FAQ

Wedding couple at Rocky Mountain National Park (2)-min.jpg

Where are you located?

I live in Ashland, Oregon, a small town in Southern Oregon. When I started my work seven years ago, I was living in Boulder, Colorado. I go back and forth between both states almost every month (if not more)!

Will you travel for weddings or portraits?

Wedding: Yes!
I love photographing couples anywhere! I have captured weddings from the East coast to the West coast and in-between. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you are planning a wedding outside of my typical flight pattern of Oregon and Colorado.
Please be aware that depending on the location, there might be an added cost for some travel including flight, rental, hotel.

Portraits: For portrait sessions such as families, newborns, maternity, engagements and anniversary sessions I always incorporate those sessions into my schedule throughout the year. My typical locations for portrait work is in Seattle, Portland, Rogue Valley, Boulder/Denver area.

What is the booking process?

Weddings: First, we get to know one other over a video chat. After we agree that we’re the right fit for each other, I send over my contract. To officially book with me and be set in my calendar, I require a nonrefundable deposit of 50% of your full package price plus an e-signature from each member of the party. Then 30 days before your wedding or elopement date, I will reach out to receive the additional and final payment.

Portraits: There is a $50 nonrefundable booking fee. That fee goes toward your session total, but if I am waiting at the location to take your photos and you do not show up without an emergency or reaching out before hand, then it is nonrefundable. As well as an e-contract for signing which goes over more details with our session and agreement.

How long does it take to receive the images?

Weddings: Four to six weeks.

Portraits: Two to three weeks.

How many images will I receive?

Weddings: It really depends…how many hours am I with you photographing? Will I be photographing the whole time or driving to two different locations (i.e. the ceremony site and then the reception, or getting ready and the ceremony), will there be lots of details to capture, and how many guests attending? These are all aspects that influence the number of images I may be taking in a day.

Typically I photograph between six to ten consecutive hours. On average I deliver anywhere between 600 to 800 images in a completed gallery.

Portraits: Mini Session: 40-45 high resolution fully edited images.

Full Session: 60-65 high resolution fully edited images.

Can I have all the images?

Sorry but no. I do not provide all the images to you. I can take anywhere from 3000 to 6000 images in one wedding or elopement day. Portraits I take anywhere from 500 to 1000 images. They can have moments where someone is sneezing, coughing, doing something maybe you wouldn’t even want to know about! I see it all and part of my job is to pick out the best of the best and deliver them to you (sometimes those include funny bloopers though too!)

Can I have unedited, RAW images?

Again, sorry but no. I believe the artwork of photography consists partially of the photo itself but also how I carefully edit each one. I deliver high resolution, fully edited images just like you are seeing on my website.

Can I share with you the exact images I want taken (i.e. from Pinterest or Instagram?)

I always love to see your inspiration, but I also ask that you not take it too far and trust me and my work. An image you may see on another platform came about because they had a funny moment, or something personal happened just then. My approach is to capture your day. I do not like to do an exact replication of an image, and hope you are coming to me because you have seen my work and will trust in my process to create amazing moments just for you!

I always feel uncomfortable in front of the camera. Are you sure you want to work with me?

Yes, of course! I never expect anyone to feel comfortable in front of a camera! Most of us do not go about our day with a camera by our side taking images. I always say the first twenty minutes or so you might feel uncomfortable, but soon you will feel like we are just hanging out and having a great time! I feel my reviews from previous clients echo so much of that!

I do everything I can to make you feel comfortable with a very natural approach to my sessions. You will walk through fields, cozy up together, enjoy the views of the location!

What type of equipment do you use?

Primary: Canon 5d Mark iv
Secondary: Canon 5d Mark iii
Lenses: Prime only.
A note about lenses: I have found that the glass and quality is much better with prime lenses and tailors to my creative techniques. They are 135mm, 85mm, 50mm, 35mm.

My family and children are WILD! Can you handle that?

Oh, I sure can! I come from a large family where there are 34 immediate family members, 19 of them are my nieces and nephews. I also have a wild toddler of my own! I love having families and children in front of my camera! I always go at the pace of the children and wait for those little in-between moments that tell so much about their characters. I come with a bag full of tricks and games to get through the session together!

Am I allowed to share my images with others?

OF COURSE! These images are meant to be shared. I sign a print release with all of my couples that allows them the permissions to share or print their photos. I do however, maintain the rights to the photo as an artist.
